Tulips, Ballet, Tea

The Tulip Festival, which can rightfully be considered one of the beautiful traditions of the northern capital was held for the sixth time on the Yelagin Island in St. Petersburg.
These days Yelagin Island turned into a giant flower bed - 160 thousand tulips of 130 varieties were dissolved on three thousand square meters at the same time.
Every year the festival changes the theme – this year landscape designers, creating tulip compositions, were inspired by the Russian ballet and sketches of Lev Baksta to the ballets of the famous "Russian Seasons" by Diaghilev. Guests of the festival could see a delicate pale yellow floral "illustration" for the ballet "Narcissus" by Diaghilev and a bright, fiery golden flower bed, created based on the ballet "Firebird" of Stravinsky, a complex creation called "Fouette" in lilac-white tones, really transmitting the rapid rhythm of the virtuoso movement of classical dance and touching, surprisingly bright composition "Ballet morning" of small, pure white tulips.
And also at the festival it was possible to visit the master-classes on landscape design and the traditional competition of florists, to plunge into the epoch of modern on a promenade-concert and to drink a cup of tea TESS, admiring incredible paints and splendor of the blossomed tulips. By the way, the Chinese painter and calligrapher of the Qing era, the great Xu Wei, considered flowers one of those things, without which exquisite tea is impossible.
